(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 05, 2009 ) Henderson, NV - From the merely pretty to the drop-dead gogerousl, many young women have considered a career as a fashion model. But, fashion modeling in an extremely tough business to break into with only a handful of working models make it to the top and become household names. Professional model Lindy Kwock reviews some of the criteria for breaking into the world of modeling.
Age is Important
In the modeling world youth is where its at. Most modeling agencies seek women (or girls, as they are called in fashion parlance) between 14-21, with younger girls being more favored as they have a longer shelf life which translates into more earning power. And while there are some celebrated models who continue working throughout their twenties and longer, many modeling careers end at around 30-35.
Ready for Your Close-up
Despite what you may hear, modeling agents basically want a clear picture of what a girl looks like au natural - that is, free of makeup, styled hair and flattering clothes. They also want to see how well she photographs. A girl can be beautiful in person, but if the camera doesn't translate this beauty on to film, she won't make it as a model.
When Your Moment Arrives
When your big moment does arrive to impress the agent or agents. Dress in simple clothes, wear minimal makeup and leave the high heels at home. Most importantly, project confidence -- let your personality shine through --and try to relax. Make a good impression, and you will get a callback and hopefully signed.
